The Toyota Sequoia for 2023 will get a three-row SUV that should arrive in the near future. In fact, the new generation of the 2022 Toyota Tundra full-size pickup truck is going to make its debut soon. In fact, like in its past two generations, the Sequoia is going to be similarly related to the Tundra. Moreover, both of these new Toyotas will use an updated platform. Also new six-cylinder powertrains and possibly including a hybrid.

Toyota TNGA-F Body-on-Frame Platform

Moreover, Toyota’s new trucks are going to use the automaker’s TNGA-F body-on-frame platform that underpins the current 300-series Land Cruiser. Both vehicles do use a solid rear axle. However, the Sequoia will have an independent rear suspension setup. It is typical of three-row SUVs. This latest Land Cruiser will not be selling in the U.S. Although its upmarket Lexus LX cousin will likely be. Moreover, it means the Sequoia will, in essence, replace the Land Cruiser at the big end of Toyota’s U.S. SUV lineup.

Toyota’s artist shows the image of what a new SUV is going to look like. Moreover, it is based on a Toyota photo of the 2022 Tundra’s off-road-focus TRD Pro model. This is a variant that the Toyota Sequoia should, in fact, also get. Moreover, the differences between the two in prior generations are seeing in the headlights and grilles. Therefore, we expect Sequoia’s grille to look even less dramatic than the new Tundra’s.

Turbocharged Engine

Moreover, the current Sequoia’s 381-hp V-8 is more likely to be replaced by a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6 engine. It is also expecting to power the new Tundra. In fact, this engine does make 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque in the Land Cruiser. In fact, the hybrid drivetrain that uses this boosted six-cylinder is also likely.
