SOUTH PHILADELPHIA, WEST OAK LANE – Two shootings in separate cities left a 17-year-old boy dead and a 16-year-old boy in critical condition on Wednesday night, police said. Just before 7:30 p.m., the older teen was shot in the head and chest while being outside in the 6700 block of North 17th Street in West Oak Lane. He was rushed to Einstein Medical Center by police and was pronounced dead at 8:08 p.m.
He was identified Wednesday as Antoine Coleman, of the 6700 block of North 16thStreet.
The 16-year-old was outside in the 1400 block of South Etting Street in South Philadelphia around 8:20 p.m. when he was shot multiple times under his tummy.
He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center by police and was in critical but stable condition.
The victims’ names were not released, and police had no other details. The motives for the shootings are not known.
